2026 Big Sur International Marathon

26.2 Miles of California Coastline!

The Big Sur International Marathon is a point-to-point from Big Sur to Carmel on Highway 1, the nation’s first designated scenic highway. The course is USATF certified and is an official Boston qualifier. There is an approximately 6-hour course limit, just over a 13:45 pace per mile.

The course’s rolling hills wind through redwoods, alongside ranches, and offer stunning views of the Pacific Ocean. You can help protect this beautiful landscape by running on behalf of Racing for Sustainability.

RFS envisions a world where sustainability is as integral to a race as the start and finish lines. By supporting us, you’ll be helping racing events reduce waste, conserve resources, and foster a culture of environmental responsibility within the running community.
