Race organizers share our vision, but with so many demands on your time and budgets, sustainability efforts are often – understandably – put on the back burner. That’s why we created Racing for Sustainability.
Racing for Sustainability is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that provides practical, affordable, and equitable resources for race directors to support environmental stewardship and positive social impact within the global running community.
We believe that sustainability shouldn’t only be for races with large budgets and staff. Racing for Sustainability provides the tools you need as a race organizer to create positive change and share your commitment to sustainability with minimal outlay of resources.

Protect Our Future
It’s what needs to be done if we want to be able to race, run, and simply enjoy time outdoors. Pollution negatively impacts our health and has led to unprecedented heat waves, flooding, tornadoes, and wildfires. We can’t turn back time, but we can still create positive outcomes moving forward.

A Win for Your Budget
It’s good for your bottom line. A study by NielsenIQ found that 78 percent of US consumers say that a sustainable lifestyle is important to them. Additionally, sustainable practices will save money over the long run (no pun intended). As just one example, think about how much you spend on disposable cups for your event, and then imagine not having that expense!

Grassroots Action Is Essential
The EPA is rolling back regulations that were put in place to protect the environment. That makes it more important than ever to act at a local level to do whatever we can to care for the planet.
You may think that your sustainability efforts won’t have any impact, and alone, they won’t. But collectively, we will make a difference. The more eco-conscious events there are, the greater our opportunity will be to continue to enjoy the sport we all love.
